I have read that too Nate.  I also read things as far back as last Summer that insisted $100/barrel was the new low.

I find a lot of media is there to muddle the truth.

Looking at recent numbers we import* around 7 billion barrels a week and export** 3.5 billion barrels a week.  We have the CFR, and marionette politicians, openly wanting and working towards upping export on crude.  Publications are already making the case for it.  To this I say: "Insanity!", in my humble opinion we should have 0 import on crude first, then we can talk about exporting crude.

Oh, wait, energy independence is not really the goal.  Sorry.

But I digress.  We have been willing to kill rulers and destroy nations to protect our WRC status, that to me is the bigger picture.  The fact that nearly no one wants to discuss it in major media outlets or on capital hill adds to the validity.  In my eyes at least.

*= mostly crude.  **= not including crude oil.  We export only 374,000 barrels of crude per week.
