In my humble opinion; there is no chance in hell the US will stop being oil dependent from OPEC- part of the agreement to keep the dollar as the only currency to buy oil in requires us to remain a purchaser.

This year has been different than the last decade+ with gas staying low much longer than usual.  One thought, which I said above, was the OPEC stated goal of pushing non-OPEC countries out of the equation.  This is exactly what America wants anyway- but what about the oil companies?  They have a large lobby after all and have grown accustom to gouging the fuck out us to rake in record annual profits over and over.

With the recent attack on Yemen by Saudi Arabia (with our blessing) I think the powers that be might have found a way to keep the price per barrel low (impeding competition) while giving the US markets a reason to still raise the price of gas at the pump.

As usual I hope I am wrong; guess we will know soon enough.
