While researching at the College you find it difficult to focus on the task at hand.  Planar study is fun, but when surrounded by all this lore of the city... you wander.  Stumbling onto a very interesting bit of information about the city on the last day you are supposed to be there.

As you already knew the city is nearly 850 years old.  What's new is back in the year 324 a Temple to the Goddess of good luck and Adventurers, Tymora, was built.  The temple lasted several hundred years and was funded by a retired high priest who had earned a crystallized teardrop from the goddess herself.  With this magic relic he crafted a fountain in the center of his temple- a magic fountain said to be a great boon to any who drank from it.  The fountain was said to cure ailments, any disease or poison, it could strengthen the body's weakest aspects and even bring the dead back to life.  Truly an adventures boon.

It was great, powerful, and almost lost in the year 525 when orcs ravaged the land and invaded the city.  But during the invasion a small cult of demon worshipers sought to destroy the fountain also was part of the force attacking the city.  They were unable to destroy the fountain, its magics were much stronger then they- but they did manage to port the fountain to the Abyss and raze the temple to the ground.  The forces of good, years later after the city started to get back on its feet, was able to set up a portal to the fountain and it still exists to this day in a bar called "The Looking Glass", built on the very foundation of the old church.
